Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the way foreign languages are learned, taught and translated. The project explores how AI can be integrated into university-level foreign language education in a responsible, pedagogically sound and methodologically innovative way.

Objectives

  • explore how AI-enabled tools are currently used in foreign language learning, teaching and translation;
  • identify the opportunities, limitations and risks associated with AI-supported language education;
  • develop innovative methodologies for integrating AI into foreign language teaching;
  • support students in using AI tools consciously, critically and effectively;
  • provide teachers with practical approaches and training for AI-assisted language education;
  • promote responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence in higher education.

Key results

  • a comprehensive analysis of AI tools relevant to foreign language learning and translation, including their advantages and limitations;
  • qualitative and quantitative research on AI-supported language education;
  • case studies and classroom-based pilot testing of selected AI tools and methodologies;
  • practical resources and guidelines for students;
  • methodologies and guidance for integrating AI into foreign language teaching;
  • guidelines for the conscious, responsible and ethical use of AI-enabled tools;
  • a structured training programme and resources for university language teachers.
